PE

2024 - 2025 successes:

Moorlands this year has taken part in a range of sporting competitions. As a school we achieved the Gold School Games Award and have won numerous competitions.

Competing against local Wednesbury schools in a tournament:

Year 5 /6 Netball 

Year 5 /6 girls Football

Year 5 / 6 boys Football - drew in the final and lost to penalties

Year 3 / 4 multi-skills tournament - 1st place

Black Country / Birmingham competitions against other primary schools:

Gymnastics: Year 1 / 2 team came 2nd place, Year 5 / 6 individual came 3rd place. Overall the school came 2nd.

Wow Active fitness tournament: 1st place boys, 1st place girls, overall the school came 1st.

P.E.

Pupils have the opportunity to develop their physical skills throughout their time at Moorlands:

  • From Year 4, pupils go swimming at Wednesbury Leisure Centre, for a term each academic year.
  • A gymnastic specialist teaches pupils from Reception to Year 6. 
  • The Albion Foundation provides the school with Invasion game skills for pupils from Year 1.
  • Wow Active provides the school with a dance instructor who teaches pupils from Year 1 and provides a dance club at dinner time for the pupils in Reception to Year 2.
  • Wow Active visit the school four times a year to complete Fitness Assessments on the pupils from Year 1. This information is available for parents and shows just how much the pupils can improve on their fitness over the year.
  • After school clubs: multi-skills, dance and gymnastics is provided with different year groups targeted each term.
  • In the Key Stage 1 playground pupils have access to an all weathered pitch for football and fixed gymnastic equipment. These are used throughout the day.
  • In the Key Stage 2 playground pupils have access to fixed gymnastic equipment, football pitches and basketball nets.

Pupils' Opinions of P.E. at Moorlands Primary School 2025

Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 were asked about what P.E. is like at school:

  • I love PE because it makes us healthy.
